Award tribute to Dr Gregory Makrides at a special ceremony in the European Parliament (highlighing Le-MATH Project)

The Le-MATH Project coordinator, president of the Cyprus Mathematical Society, Dr Gregory Makrides, was awarded the "2014 Award for outstanding achievements in development of the EU through European Projects". The award was presented at a special ceremony held on Wednesday, October 8, 2014, at the premises of the European Parliament in Brussels with main sponsor the European Project Association (EPA). The ceremony was attended by MEPs and members of the Committee for International Affairs in the Parliament, Governors and Directors of European Regions, the President of the European Commission Centre for Economic and Social Affairs and other officials. This award is based on the extensive activity and achievements of Dr Makrides in European Projects for which he secured funding and coordinated the last 10 years, thus contributing to the development of the European Union through the European Project results. Dr. Makrides was also a partner in many other European Projects since 1999 to present and participated as an expert in various committees and groups of the European Commission.

EDIPED (2002-2005) – Development of a European Digital Portfolio for Educators, MATHEU (2003-2006)-Identification, Motivation and Support of Mathematical Talents in European Schools, CAREER-EUshop (2008-2010)-One-Stop-Service Career Guidance Service for Europeans, INENTER (2010-2012): Improving the Placements and Internships from Academia to Enterprises, Be-CONNECTED (2009-2015)-Developing University-Industry Liaison Offices in the Universities Operating in the Republic of Cyprus, PEOPLE (2012-2013)-Marie-Sllodowska-Curie Conference under the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, Le-MATH(2012-2014)-Learning Mathematics through new communication factors, CYEYES (2012-2013)-Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs “Cyprus EYEs are open” (Cycle 3), EUEYES (2013-2014)-Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs “Europe EYEs are open” (Cycle 4).
