The Le-MATH Project coordinator, president of the Cyprus Mathematical Society, Dr Gregory Makrides, was awarded the "2014 Award for outstanding achievements in development of the EU through European Projects". The award was presented at a special ceremony held on Wednesday, October 8, 2014, at the premises of the European Parliament in Brussels with main sponsor the European Project Association (EPA). The ceremony was attended by MEPs and members of the Committee for International Affairs in the Parliament, Governors and Directors of European Regions, the President of the European Commission Centre for Economic and Social Affairs and other officials. This award is based on the extensive activity and achievements of Dr Makrides in European Projects for which he secured funding and coordinated the last 10 years, thus contributing to the development of the European Union through the European Project results. Dr. Makrides was also a partner in many other European Projects since 1999 to present and participated as an expert in various committees and groups of the European Commission.
